WordPress, TV Series, music, kids, and board games. I think that’s probably the best way to define me in a few words. 🙂

I work at Automattic where I lead a team building tools for bloggers and creators. I talk a lot about WordPress things, but also about all things open source in general.

I post in English and in French.

I live in Brittany, France, so you’ll also find me sharing pictures from our beautiful region from time to time.

November 2022: as soon as ChatGPT came out, the number of questions asked declined rapidly. ChatGPT is faster and it’s trained on StackOverflow data, so the quality of answers is similar. Plus, ChatGPT is polite and answers all questions, in contrast to StackOverflow moderators.

May 2025: the number of monthly questions is as low as when Stack Overflow launched in 2009.

Stack overflow is almost dead

I can’t help but wonder:

  • How long until the site owners give up on it or switch strategies? Stack Overflow communities are one of the backbones of the web. Not just development topics, too ; Stack Overflow is so much more. Will that content disappear forever or become pay gated?
  • What will this mean for the overall quality of LLMs in the future? Stack Overflow’s discussions and weighted questions / answers must be an important high quality base material. Will LLMs be impacted when they no longer have access to discussions about recent events and evolutions?
