@wpcommaven I don’t work on that part of WordPress.com and don’t know what’s a “red alert” so I can’t really comment on much of that post. That said, I think there is something we don’t mention enough, and where we should do a better job. One can use many different editors to publish to a WordPress site (regardless of where it is hosted). I wish folks would know that option is available to them. I’m sure many would find an editor that fits their needs, and that they may even prefer to the classic or the block editor.
In fact, looking at our support docs we don’t even mention that option (I’ve passed on that feedback). We could be mentioning a few examples there. Here are a few that come to mind:
- The Google docs to WordPress browser extension, for example.
- The WordLand editor that was just made public a few days ago.
- StackEdit for Markdown fans.
- Ulysses for Apple users.
- iAWriter for minimalist / focussed writers.
